Madrigal: song of many voices +
Gaïa: Greek Goddess of the Earth
Madrigaïa, whose fanciful name signifies song of the Earth, is a vocal supergroup from the Canadian prairies. Using voice and rhythm as its mainstay, Madrigaïa sweeps audiences into a storm of song and folklore from around the globe. By mixing together their eclectic musical influences, Madrigaïa seeks to dissolve the illusory, manmade barriers built between cultures. Flowing from gentle French-Canadian folk songs, to pulsing Brazilian sambas, to powerful Ojibwa rounds and on to original compositions, Madrigaïa combines breathtaking harmony with surging vocal and instrumental percussion, to create a musical phenomenon greater than the sum of its parts.
